you are darkorchid
#9932CC

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

This is... surprisingly accurate. Especially the bit about the parties.

Proper update coming this weekend.

Here's the infamous song meme where you comment and I give you a letter. Then you post five songs you love that begin with that letter. [livejournal.com profile] teh_maskmaid gave me the letter C.

01. Crazy by Ray LaMontagne
Don't get me wrong, I like the original 'Crazy', but Cee Lo Green sings it from the POV of someone who has recovered from a nervous breakdown. LaMontagne sings it like he is in THE MIDDLE of a breakdown and what a beautiful breakdown it is.

02. Crazy For You by Groove Armada
Another cover. This time, I'm not particularly fond of the original but I really love how Groove Armada have transformed it into a woozy, slightly drunk love song.

03. Come To My World by Santana
This is on the Ceremony album (remixes and rarities) and I always feel like it should have been released as a single. It's a bit like 'Smooth' but has more of a sensuous vibe.

04. California Dreaming by Bobby Womack
Such a good cover that half the time when I play it, people have no idea which song it is until the chorus kicks in.

05. The Cave by Mumford and Sons
This song is so inspirational. It has over 60 plays on my iTunes and many more on my iPod.
sea_thoughts: (HPOTP - dark_branwen)
08. Your favorite ship(s)

Um, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Remus/Tonks and Luna/Rolf! Yeah, all the canon ones. :)
sea_thoughts: (HPEasy Riders - ajcher)
07. Song that reminds you of HP

Holy crap, this song has always reminded me of the Weasleys and there's actually a video to it! :D

I was introduced to this song by this video and now it's become a Snape anthem for me.

This one stays because I found the song through this video and now it is the permanent soundtrack to this chapter for me.

The Trio - Little Wonders

Harry himself - Anything But Ordinary

Hermione Granger's theme song

Ron Weasley's theme song

Ginny - Stone Cold Sober by Paloma Faith (skip to 0:37 for the beginning of the video)

Luna Lovegood's theme song

Neville Longbottom's theme song

Dumbledore - Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons

sea_thoughts: (HPTrio - dark_branwen)
06. Your favorite character(s)

The Trio. I love all of them (I find it hard to understand how people can read the HP series while hating the main character or Ron or Hermione). Plus Ginny, Neville and Luna, especially interacting together. As for the adults, McGonagall, Sprout, Dumbledore, Sirius, Remus and Tonks, plus Scrimgeour. I love Scrimgeour because he's such a delicate shade of grey.
sea_thoughts: (HPEasy Riders - ajcher)
05. Wizard Rock: discuss

I'm not sure I can, because I'm not really into wizard rock. I've heard some songs by Ginny and the Weasleys and Remus and the Lupins and I liked them.

sea_thoughts: (HPEasy Riders - ajcher)
04. Your favorite movie

Still Order of the Phoenix and it's probably not a coincidence that this is the only one not adapted by Steve Kloves. Ron and Hermione are given equal treatment, I cannot state this enough. The scene where Harry wakes from a nightmare to find Ron watching over him is one of the best moments in the series. The film really captures the gloomy atmosphere of the book, Goldenberg does a good job of capturing the main plot points, Imelda Staunton is perfect as Umbridge and Evanna Lynch IS Luna Lovegood. I really hope that one day, we'll be able to see the director's cut (because the original film was THREE HOURS LONG). Deathly Hallows Part I comes in second, though.

Doing the first three days at once as I missed them. *headdesk*

01. Discuss how you got into Harry Potter

I remember standing in Ottakars (back when it still existed), staring at the first book, thinking that I'd heard some good things about the books. I couldn't get past the first chapter and so I put it back. Then I tried again... and put it back. Then I tried a third time, got to the chapter where the owls started arriving and decided to buy the book. I spent most of the family holiday in my room, on my bed, devouring PS and CoS.

02. Your favorite book

It varies between Prisoner of Azkaban for the perfect endgame and Order of the Phoenix for CAPSLOCK!Harry, badass Ginny, badass Neville and the introduction of the amazing Luna.

03. What house would you be in?

Well, every time I've done a test, I've been Sorted into Gryffindor. I always think I'm more of a Ravenclaw, but I would probably get fed up with just analysing things, so maybe the tests are right. I'm more of a McGonagall/Hermione Gryffindor.

Colour Meme

sea_thoughts: (Friendship - mars-mellow)
Comment and I'll give you a colour that I think represents you, and then you list ten things you like in that colour!

[livejournal.com profile] amamama gave me 'Sea Green'. Not sure if I can manage 10 things but I'll try.

1. My favourite A-line skirt from East. It's hand-wash linen with a satin hem. The first time I wore it to lunch with my parents in Cheltenham, the heavens opened and I was soaked, but the dye did not run. I love to wear it and feel pretty.

2. My top from Monsoon, which has a very low scoop neck. Because I have a large bust, a low scoop neck does not look trashy on me, but flatters the figure.

3. My sandals from Clarks. They are quite old now, and more of a light green, but I still love wearing them because they're light and so cool.

4. My long dangly sparkling earrings from Marks & Spencer, which complete the outfit.

5. My old jacket from Debenhams.

6. Arthur Darvill's eyes. (He plays Rory in Doctor Who.)

7. This painting which gives me a happy, peaceful feeling.

8. Green Sea Turtles, not 'sea green' exactly but they are from the sea and they are green! They are also critically endangered. :(

9. Sea Green See Blue by JayMay

10. The sea itself!
sea_thoughts: (Drive By - jlk-lumberjack)
Comment with “SHOWTIME!” and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your Livejournal with your favorite films of theirs. [livejournal.com profile] teh_maskmaid gave me these.

01. Hugh Laurie - sadly, I haven't seen Hugh in many films, but I still think "Sense & Sensibility" is the best

02. Robert Downey Jr. - it's either the first "Iron Man" or "Sherlock Holmes"... I can't decide; maybe that will change when I see "A Guide To Recognising Your Saints"

03. Forest Whitaker - "The Last King of Scotland" without a doubt

04. Tom Hanks - "Apollo 13", it's the beginning of him being cast as the great American Everyman but he's not typecast by "Forrest Gump" yet and he's so strong and central in this film (plus, Gary Sinise is in it too)

05. Bruce Willis - "The Sixth Sense", cliched but true

06. Robin Williams - "Aladdin", I know it's a cartoon but he completely steals the show

07. Jude Law - "Sherlock Holmes", without a doubt, it's the only film where he's actually likeable

08. James McAvoy - "ATONEMENT". Broke my heart but so beautiful.

09. Morgan Freeman - "The Shawshank Redemption". Come on, do I need to give a reason?

10. Alec Baldwin - "The Shadow". I know, I know.

01. Cate Blanchett - fnnnng, just one? Okay, "Elizabeth". She's amazing in all her films but this is the first film where I saw her and was blown away by her portrayal of Elizabeth Tudor, who's one of my historical heroines, and her cheekbones.

02. Kate Winslet - "Holy Smoke", where she plays an Australian who experiences a spiritual awakening in India. Her parents are appalled by this and make her come back so they can 'unbrainwash her'. They hire a character played by Harvey Keitel, who's supposed to be the expert in cases like this. Only it doesn't quite work out like that...

03. Sally Field - "Forrest Gump", because it's the only film I've seen her in. *cough*

04. Keira Knightly - "Pride and Prejudice". Yes, yes, I know that as a purist, I should love the BBC series more. I do love the BBC series, but I also think that Keira was a great Lizzie and I loved Matthew Macfadyen as Darcy.

05. Meryl Streep - "The Hours", where she plays a modern Clarissa Dalloway. Although "Death Becomes Her" comes VERY close.

06. Cameron Diaz - it's still "The Mask", which was her very first film.

07. Julia Roberts - "Notting Hill". Okay, she is sort of playing herself but she is very likeable in this film, which is not always the case.

08. Natalie Portman - She's one of my favourite actresses, how do I choose?! "Leon" or "Beautiful Girls" or "Garden State" or "Closer"? Although I love "Leon" more, I think she's BETTER in "Beautiful Girls" and she has a harsher character in "Closer"...

09. Charlize Theron - "The Cider House Rules"

10. Scarlett Johansson - "Lost In Translation". I love this film so much and she's the still point at the centre of it all

I shouted "Exterminate!" at [livejournal.com profile] gipsy_dreamer and she asked me these questions. Comment with the word "ivy" and I will ask you six questions. :)

1: Nine shows up on the corner of your road because he gave the TARDIS the wrong coordinates. What's your first reaction? Well first I'd dive back inside my flat and scream in shock and excitement. Then I'd try and sneak inside the TARDIS, get shouted at and probably scare the hell out of him by flinging my arms around him.

2: If you saw a lone Dalek coming up the street would you run for your life or give it a cuddle? I'd hide behind a car and then go and get Nine. ;D

3: What do you like to do in your spare time? Read, write, laze around, visit places, go to the cinema, swim, I'm going to take up belly dancing classes again. I like to browse YouTube, Wikipedia and I want to re-learn horse riding.

4: Do you have a garden? What's in it? Not really. I have a little patch of grass in front of my flat. I have two pots. One is filled with feverfew and a small pine tree, the other has a lily. All of them are still alive, so I'm proud.

5: You're offered your dream holiday; where do you go to and why? Vienna with someone who speaks German. Or Prague. Because they're both gorgeous.

[Error: unknown template qotd]Ma chose francaise preferee, c'est dificile de choisir. C'est probablement le cinema francais, un style pensif et profond, mais avec un soupcon d'humour. Mon film francais prefere est "Orphee" par Jean Cocteau.
