Oh, I see. *nods* Well no, you wouldn't. Takehiko doesn't really talk about his parents much. It's not that he doesn't want to talk about them, more that he doesn't have many memories of them, so he likes to keep what he does have close to his heart. If he'd been older, even just a couple of years, he might have talked about them a lot more. In many ways, he knows more about them as people than as parents, since he got a lot of his information from his grandparents and his parents' friends. But he wanted to honour them as parents in some way, since they would never meet their grandchildren. That's why I'm glad the naming made sense to you, because it made a lot of sense to me. Whoo, long paragraph.

Helga gets torn between wanting to protect Takehiko and wanting him to be as independent as he can. It helps that Takehiko's problems were small and many, rather than one big problem like Keitaro. I mean, he never had to worry about his heart (which makes me laugh when I think about it). Keitaro would definitely have won the sickness contest. ^^; Takehiko's immune system just wasn't the best when he was younger. But since he was always wanting to do as much as he could, Helga couldn't really overprotect him, because he would fight her about it (and his grandfather would always back him up when it came to that *lol*). I think Helga was more emotionally protective than physically protective, because Takehiko was the last link she had to her son and daughter-in-law (whom she loved very much). Anyway, once Takehiko hit puberty (or puberty hit him, I should say), the bad health vanished... probably all that testosterone. *lol* And as an adult, he and Ken are the healthiest of the lot. Takehiko never has a cold or a sore throat or a virus... his immune system is impregnable. Unlike Ken, he has a great deal of sympathy for sick people.

Yeah, I always thought the manga grandfather was nicer, too. I recently found out that one of the cuts that DIC made when editing Rei's intro episode was that Anime Grandpa hit on men, too. -_-;;
